Well here it is one of my favourite days of the year, a day that all beauty gals look forward to, the Irish Beauty Show at The RDS, Simmonscourt.

The Expo started at 10am and sure enough yours truly was there to witness the opening of the doors at the 2010 expo. One of the first things I did when in was head to Bushras Beauty Salon Stand where I experienced eye brow threading for the first time. It really doesn’t hurt and is relatively quick for a clean and shaped effect. They can do your brows what ever way you choose but I being not so daring went for a general tidy up, nice job done. I’ll definitely be paying a visit to their store.

My next stop was Crown Brushes where I spent a fortune but it’s necessary I think when they are your tools of the trade. As usual I noticed a snake shaped queue at the Dermalogica stand. Their popularity never falters. Inglot had a stand there for the first time I believe; the girl at the counter was extremely helpful and very nice. One of my more favourite brands Fuschia were also there to my delight. The owner Gill was lovely and of course I walked away with some Fuschia products in by bag.

I have to say I was slightly disappointed in the event this year though , especially in comparison to previous years, not as many makeup stands as I would have liked to have seen but obviously being a make up artist that’s where my focus lies. However for nail technicians, spray tanners and those working with hair extensions it was a candy store full of marvellous wonders. Nail wraps, nail varnish galore. I think the best deals were on varnishes this year. Speaking of deals, there were a lot less deals to be had than usual. I observed that prices had risen on some products, without mentioning names; we are in the middle of a recession folks, lowering the price to entice the buyer wouldn’t have gone astray. However one stand who had no trouble in enticing buyers were Bourgois, they were offering five products for €10euro, you just couldn’t go wrong could you?, seriously it would be rude not to make a purchase. The small stand was so packed though you really needed patience to pick out your items but trust me it was definitely worth it.

Overall I enjoyed my day, spent a fortune and I guess have to be thankful that it’s only on twice a year otherwise I would be seriously broke:)
